Los Angeles, CA (November 3, 2020) - Anguleris Technologies, the construction industry’s experts in Building Information Modeling (BIM) and digital specification and the creators of BIMsmith® and Swatchbox®, has partnered with AIA Los Angeles to support the 2020 2x8:DOMUM student architecture exhibition.

2x8:DOMUM, a virtual exhibition by AIA Los Angeles, showcases exemplary architecture student work from 16 schools across California. The student work addresses the housing crisis.

The program holds panel discussions discussing the effects of COVID-19 on the housing crisis and the future of housing typologies with prominent LA architects and students.

The program also hosts a panel discussion addressing racial inequality in academia. Students from the National Organization of Minority Architects student chapters are provided a public forum to discuss the direction taken by the school in response to current events and the Black Lives Matter Movement.

During the opening on November 5, $30,000 of scholarships will be awarded by the program, with commentary by a nationally-renowned jury addressing the merits of each project.  

This is the first year that the AIALA’s 2×8 Student Exhibition and Competition is going to be completely virtual, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Attendees will be able to "wander" through a digital matrix of virtual exhibition galleries. Designed by Garet Ammerman, Lecturer at Cal Poly Pomona, and developed by Bryan Zhang, WbML at USC, the virtual exhibition space offers an untethered immersive gallery experience within a field of equally accessible student pods distributed by a graphic scaffolding.

The exhibition is free and open to the public.
